MADISON, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Wisconsin Badgers Men’s Basketball team has won 12 of their last 14 opening-round NCAA Tournament appearances, and under Greg Gard, they have won 4 of 5. Now the two times that Badgers have most recently lost in the first round. They were the 5-seed, like they are this year, in 2019 and 2013. The Badgers are hoping to avoid that fate by riding the momentum they have gained from their run to the Big Ten Championship game this past weekend.

Greg Gard feels his team is playing some of its best basketball of the season, and he and his players won’t make the mistake of overlooking their opponent, James Madison as they prepare for Friday night’s game in Brooklyn, “Excited for these guys because they’ve earned their chance to keep playing and they’re playing really well. Well, right now, so, you know, you get to this point in time, you know that, anything left? Is anybody left is a really good team? And we obviously have learned that over the last 48 hours with James Madison, they will have to continue to play well. I think that’s the main thing is where we’re at right now and how we’ve been playing the last six games. We got to keep, keep our foot on the gas. In that regard and. See how far we can roll this down the road.”

Junior guard, Chucky Hepburn, added, “We’ve been here before. And, you know, we lost in the second round and I don’t want to just go make March Madness, I want to make a deep run in this tournament.”
