Bakersfield City School District receives $60K in funding to boost programs

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield City School District received a hefty boost in funding for their programs Thursday night.

The Bakersfield City School District Education Foundation gave $60,000 for teacher grants, which were raised at the annual “Teddy Bear Picnic” event. The funds will boost education efforts at 44 schools in Bakersfield.

The money will be used for special programs in science, horticulture, robotics, creative writing, arts, music and more.

Bakersfield City teachers are welcomed to apply for grant funds to use in their classrooms. The funds can also be used to sponsor students to attend Camp Keep.
