Bakersfield PD to conduct DUI checkpoint on June 22

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield police officers will be checking drivers for signs of drug or alcohol intoxication during a checkpoint Saturday evening, the department said.

The Bakersfield Police Department said officers will conduct a checkpoint June 22 between 6:30 p.m. and 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location within city limits.

Officers will check drivers for signs of possible drug or alcohol use and impairment and will also be checking for proper licensing and vehicle registration.

Police said well-publicized, regularly conducted DUI checkpoints and patrols can reduce the number of DUI-related crashes by up to 20%. DUI convictions can result in jail time, fines, fees and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.

Anyone who suspects seeing an intoxicated driver is asked to immediately call 911.
