Baton Rouge woman arrested, faces attempted murder charge after stabbing
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department arrested a woman in connection to a December 2023 stabbing.
Kathay White, 56, of Baton Rouge, was charged with attempted second-degree murder.
According to an affidavit, detectives with BRPD responded to a call on Dec. 31, 2023, in the 17000 block of Medical Center Drive. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a victim who was suffering from a “severe stab wound to her neck, armpit and right leg.”
During the investigation, detectives with BRPD interviewed the victim. They said that she and White got into an argument that turned physical, according to an affidavit.

The victim also stated that “she and White both punched each other with a closed fist several times.” White got a knife and stabbed her several times, according to the woman. She tried to escape.
The victim said White fled on foot.
According to the affidavit, the victim “noticed she was bleeding profusely, and she advised she walked the area and found a bystander who drove her to the hospital.”
The woman also identified White as the person who stabbed her based on a photo.
