Benton County officials Friday update

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — UPDATE: Benton County officials spoke at noon in the Quorum Court Room about the recent approval of the Major Disaster Declaration.

“This is a huge deal, this is the moment we have been waiting for,” Rogers Mayor Greg Hines said.

The Major Disaster Declaration will allow FEMA to set up and help residents apply for disaster aid for themselves and businesses. The Benton County Relief page will be updated with more information.

“This opens up and allows us to start the process of recovery,” Hines said.

City officials also spoke on the three county debris drop-offs only open for private residents, not contractors. It is also only for vegetative debris. The sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday

What about my personal property assessments?

County Judge Barry Moehring said that Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed an executive order pushing the date for property assessments that were due May 31, it has now been extended to June 30.

“Benton County facilities were hit pretty hard,” Moehring said.

He said that the Benton County servers went down.

The Division 1 Criminal Court has moved to the Quorum Court starting on Monday, June 3.

A news release from Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that Biden had approved her request for the Major Disaster Declaration allowing for federal assistance to rebuild the areas impacted from May 24-26 by severe weather and tornadoes.
