Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office partnering to hold gun buyback event
NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is partnering to host a gun buyback event on Saturday, June 29 at La Mesa Presbyterian Church from 9 – 12 a.m.
Two New Mexico chefs compete on Food Network’s ‘Chopped’
BCSO is working with the nonprofit New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence for this event. People will be able to safely surrender and unwanted firearms with no questions asked and no information retained. The firearms must be in working condition and unloaded. Participants can turn in as many guns as they would like. This is a drive-thru event and people are asked to keep the guns in the trunk of their vehicle. Participants will be paid for their guns turned in. Gun owners can also get a free gunlock at the event.
Assault weapon – $250
Semi-automatic handguns and rifles – $200
Long guns and pistols – $100
As part of the guns to gardens event the collected guns will be dismantled and the scrap metal will be used to make gardening tools and art pieces.
