BET has revealed special programming to keep audiences informed as the presidential race heats up. Exclusively reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the network is set to air What’s At Stake: 2024 Election Special, the first of multiple broadcasts planned for its political coverage. The special is set to debut on June 4 at 10 p.m., on BET, BET Her, and VH1.

What’s At Stake is hosted by BET correspondent Ed Gordon, and will feature a roundtable discussion with Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH), and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX). All three women are members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

According to the outlet, Gordon says that the roundtable will discuss issues that are important to Black voters, including the state of the economy, gun violence, and more.

“I think clearly it’s an interesting time for the nation,” Gordon explained to THR. “Not just for the Black electorate, but for all of us, this question of democracy and where we stand and so BET felt it doubly important to make sure that we got in front of giving the Black viewer in particular what is needed to think about to engage in this very important political time.”

According to The Pew Research Center, Black voters remain overwhelmingly Democratic and support current President Joe Biden over former President Donald Trump by a wide margin. Biden’s advantage is not as wide as it was four years ago. Additionally, 49 percent of Black voters say they would replace both Trump and Biden with different candidates if they had the ability to do so.

Earlier this month, the New York Times reported Trump led Biden among registered voters in five of six key states: Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, with Biden taking the lead in Wisconsin.

Per NBC News, the current presidential ballot lists Trump, with no confirmed vice president candidate, Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris, Robert F. Kennedy with running mate Nicole Shanahan, Cornel West with running mate candidate Melina Abdullah, and Jill Stein with no listed running mate.
