5. Abilene Fire Dept. battles fire at southside mobile home

The week began with a fire at a South Abilene mobile home on Monday night. AFD has not updated the investigation with BigCountryHomepage.com

4. WATCH: Train & 18-wheeler crash in Tye

On Wednesday, a semi-truck hauling a trailer crossed the railroad tracks in Tye at an inopportune moment.

In an update, Tye PD told reporter Noah McKinney that due to the absence of markers informing truckers not to use the crossing, it’s an honest mistake.

3. FBI arrests Abilene man accused of making child porn with friend’s sleeping son

On Tuesday, BigCountryHomepage.com learned that the FBI investigated a local man, leading to an arrest. Victor Taylor is accused of producing illicit footage depicting children. He is held in the Taylor County Jail without bond.

2. UPDATE: Driver dies after fiery north Abilene crash

A fiery rollover wreck, also on Tuesday, took the life of a driver in Abilene. Ebony Kellum, 58, was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

1. UPDATE: Abilene man killed in Merkel crash

Our number one local story on web continued to trend throughout the week. Last Friday, an SUV occupied by three men went awry when the driver lost control at the top of an embankment. Passenger Rogelio Cortinaz, 43, of Abilene lost his life in this crash.
