BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Bills have re-signed safety Taylor Rapp while bringing back quarterback Mitch Trubisky, according to multiple national reports.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Bills will bring back Rapp on a three-year deal that is worth up to $14.5 million.

Rapp played in 16 games for the Bills in 2023 and earned two starts. He had one interception and two pass deflections, to go along with 33 total tackles. The 26-year-old is a former second round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2019 and spent four seasons in Los Angeles before coming to Buffalo last season.

The Bills will need depth in the secondary after they released Jordan Poyer and Tre’Davious White on Wednesday, two stalwarts in the secondary. Micah Hyde is also a free agent.

Meanwhile, Buffalo has also reportedly agreed to terms to bring back quarterback Mitch Trubisky, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo.

Trubisky has spent the past two seasons in Pittsburgh, starting seven games in those two years among 12 appearances. He spent the 2021 season in Buffalo, attempting eight passes across six games.

A former second overall pick by the Chicago Bears in 2017, he spent three and a half seasons as Chicago’s starter before being benched midway through the 2020 season. He figures to be Josh Allen’s backup heading into the 2024 season.

These are the latest in a flurry of moves from the Bills on Wednesday, which includes the release of Poyer, White, center Mitch Morse, running back Nyheim Hines and wide receiver Deonte Harty. Buffalo also re-signed offensive lineman David Edwards on Wednesday, as well as punter Matt Haack.
