Body of missing Minnesota man found in northern Wisconsin river

SUPERIOR, Wis. (WFRV) – The body of a missing man from Duluth was found in a river in northern Wisconsin after he was last seen fleeing from a traffic stop nine days prior.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the body of a missing man from Minnesota was found in the Pokegema River on June 17. The man, identified as 43-year-old Ryan Lahti, was reported missing around June 14 to the Duluth Police Department by family members.

Authorities say that Lahti was last seen fleeing into the woods from a traffic stop done by Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies on June 8 around 8 p.m. An ‘extensive’ search was done at the time of the incident, but Lahti was not found.

On June 17, his body was reportedly found partially submerged in the Pokegema River around 4:50 p.m.

Multiple agencies are assisting in the investigation and a cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy.
