Boil advisory issued in Buckner, Levasy, Sibley Tuesday morning

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Days after lifting a boil advisory that affected almost half of Buckner, Missouri’s residents, the city is back to facing more water woes alongside two other towns.

The City of Buckner announced one of its water valves broke Tuesday morning, causing an advisory to be issued for the city, as well as Levasy and Sibley, Missouri.

According to the City of Buckner, crews are working to repair the valve and all should be restored in the next 4 to 5 hours.

A few weeks ago, Buckner was met with a similar problem when workers found a broken valve in a water line coming from the City of Independence. This valve boosts Buckner’s water tower. However, those problems were resolved within a few hours.

Boil water advisories mean customers should drink from bottled water or boil the water they plan to use or consume, including coffee and ice cubes, for at least three minutes.

Unless told otherwise by the city, pets and other animals should also be given bottled water or boiled water that has cooled.
