Bombshell Revelation In Matthew Perry Death: Cops 'On The Hunt' For His 'Killer'

Matthew Perry, 54, passed away last year from “acute effects of the drug Ketamine,” according to the autopsy report.

As many fans know, the "Friends" actor had a history of alcohol and drug abuse but had reportedly been clean for 19 months. Perry had been open about his addiction struggles, something that he battled throughout filming the hit television show. He publicly described his severe addiction to alcohol and Opioids, specifically Vicodin, as he was prescribed the drug to help treat pain after a 1997 jet skiing accident.

Following Matthew Perry's tragic death, police have opened an investigation linked to another celebrity who went to rehab with the "Friends" actor.

The LAPD launched a criminal investigation in May, working with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, into the circumstances surrounding the "Friends" star's death on October 28, 2023, after he was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home.

“They have basically been on the hunt for Matthew’s killer,” an insider exclusively told In Touch earlier this week, adding that a woman was brought in for questioning. “She’s a celebrity in her own right, and they met in rehab. They formed an unexpected friendship.”

As The Blast reported, Matthew Perry's autopsy revealed the actor passed away from “acute effects of the drug Ketamine," a drug that he was using as part of therapy to combat depression.

Although Perry was undergoing Ketamine therapy, the autopsy report noted that the Ketamine found in his system could not have come from his treatment, as the drug's half-life is only a few hours, and his last known session was over a week prior to his death.

Investigators, therefore, suspect that Perry obtained the fatal dose from another source — which led them to the woman in question.

When law enforcement arrived at the sober living home with a search warrant, the unnamed celebrity was out exercising. However, when she returned, she “was in total shock and had no idea what the search warrant was about."

The woman, who is widely recognized for her marriage to an A-list celebrity, claims she was not involved in his death and has since hired lawyers.

“It’s tough to say or know exactly what her role is [in Perry's death], but she’s adamant she had nothing to do with that,” the insider told the outlet. “She’s hired lawyers and has had multiple meetings with law enforcement since they arrived at her sober living house with a search warrant. She’s being tight-lipped about the situation. But the investigators must have known something to get a warrant and turn up like that.”

She was completely "cooperative" with the police, and she was not handcuffed or arrested.

“She wasn’t expecting what happened to happen,” the insider told In Touch. “The officers searched her room, and she surrendered everything. She was completely cooperative.”

At this time, it is not clear what the LAPD was looking for, "but the inquiry was tied to the investigation into how Matthew acquired the drugs that killed him," according to the insider.

In Touch knows the celebrity's identity but has not disclosed her name due to sensitivities in the ongoing investigation.

Matthew Perry's struggle with addiction to alcohol and drugs led to the loss of millions of dollars and months in rehab, but ultimately, he regained control of his life and started helping other addicts as well.

He entered rehab for the first time in 1997, undergoing a 28-day program at the Hazelden Betty Ford facility in Minnesota.

“Unfortunately, that still wasn’t enough to get me to quit drinking,” he said, per PEOPLE Magazine. Leaving the hospital, he crashed his Porsche into a house, which he says was his low point. Though alcohol or drugs weren’t in his system that day, it showed him how much his life spiraled out of control.

On February 23, 2001, he said something changed. “I can’t describe it, because bigger things were taking place that I can’t put into words,” he said.

“I didn’t get sober because I felt like it,” he told The New York Times. “I got sober because I was worried I was going to die the next day.”
