UPDATE: Breezy Hill Water & Sewer boil water advisory repealed

UPDATE | Breezy Hill Water & Sewer Co., Inc. has repealed a boil water advisory it initially issued on June 19, according to statement released by the company.

The statement reads in part: “Following an intense flushing of the distribution system, water samples for bacteriological testing were collected and analyzed by Breezy Hill Laboratories. The results of the sampling indicate that the water is safe to use for drinking and cooking purposes.”

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – Customers of Breezy Hill Water & Sewer Co., Inc. are being asked to boil the water for at least one minute before drinking or cooking until further notice due to a water main break.

According to a statement released by Breezy Hill Water & Sewer Co., Inc., customers at the following locations are included in Graniteville:

• Hillview Drive
• Louise Street
• Boyd Drive
• Chickory Street

The statement reads in part: “There has been no confirmed contamination of the system. However, because of the interruption in service, the potential for contamination exists. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, the customers of the water system that have experienced an interruption in service are advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking once service is restored, until notified otherwise.”

The company stated that The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control is presently working with the water system to fix the issue.
