Buncombe County man wins $100,000 lottery jackpot with $1 Cash 5 ticket

An Arden man bought a Cash 5 ticket for $1 and ended up winning a $100,000 prize.

Eddie Sasser bought his lucky Quick Pick ticket for the May 29 drawing using Online Play, according to an N.C. Education Lottery news release. The winning numbers were 9-13-15-23-32. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 962,598.

Sasser claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on June 20, the news release said. He took home $71,500 after tax withholdings.

June 20 Cash 5 numbers were 3, 19, 29, 32 and 33.

One lucky person matched all five balls to win the $130,000 jackpot. The jackpot for tonight's drawing, June 21, resets to $100,000.
