C-U Elks lodge asking for reduced slot machine prices

SAVOY, Ill. (WCIA) — One Central Illinois nonprofit is trying to get their slot machine fees reduced.

Champaign-Urbana Elks Lodge in Savoy will be suggesting new prices that will help them in the long run. The nonprofit has a total of five slot machines and they’re paying $250 for each one currently. They’re asking for that price to be lowered to $50. They’re also paying a $500 location fee and asking for that to be dropped down to $100.

WCIA talked to one spokesperson of the Elks Lodge who said if this request gets accepted, it’ll help them provide more for the community.

“We’ve done a lot of veterans donations to the Danville VA to help our veterans over there,” said C-U Elks Lodge officer Roger Quinn. “Besides that, we also do youth scholarships are available through the elks as well.”

The village meeting will be held Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. The village of Savoy will also be discussing the Colbert park renovations. To find more information about the meeting click here.
