New cancer center in Goodyear includes women's center, supportive care services

Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers has opened up its largest location in Goodyear to meet the growing needs of health care in the West Valley.

Ironwood opened its Goodyear location on June 3, just a few days after it permanently closed its door to its Avondale location. The new location will serve as a transition from the previous one.

The Goodyear location is Ironwood's second location in the West Valley, excluding the previous Avondale location. Ironwood also has a center in Glendale.

All of the doctors from the Avondale location will be moving to the new Goodyear location, in addition to a new radiation oncologist. Goodyear was chosen since it is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. It is also more centrally located and can serve more people than the previous location, according to an Ironwood representative.

The over 28,000-square-foot facility is located on six acres at the northwest corner of 159th Avenue and McDowell Road. The new facility will add about 52 new jobs to the community.

The new Goodyear location is Ironwood's most expansive one yet. In addition to having a women's center, services will be available for chemotherapy, radiation treatment, CT scans, research and supportive care services like genetic counseling and social work.
