Carter County authorities searching for inmate who walked off work detail

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) – Deputies of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) are searching for an inmate who walked off work detail at the Carter County Detention Center on Thursday.

According to a release from the CCSO, Billy Fletcher, 43, was assigned to an inmate work detail at the detention center when he allegedly walked away from the area.

Fletcher is a white male who is approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs around 230 pounds. He has multiple tattoos on each arm.

The release said Fletcher was booked into the detention center in August 2023 and was serving a three-year sentence for a probation violation.
