Club H20 to close following shooting where 1 died, 7 other injured. What we know

The owner of Club H20, where one man was killed and seven others were injured in a shooting outside early Saturday morning, has "voluntarily" closed the location, according to a statement from the Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Louisville Metro Police responded to a shooting at approximately 12:47 a.m. outside the business on 25th and Broadway, spokesperson Aaron Ellis said. The man killed in the shooting was an employee of the business, according to the release from Metro ABC.

"This decision, made in light of our shared concerns for public safety, allows them time to mourn the tragic loss of their employee while ensuring the community’s well-being," the release stated.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a man with gunshot wounds who was pronounced dead by emergency medical services, Ellis said. He was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as Joseph D. Bowers, 40, of Indianapolis.

Ellis said another man was also outside the business with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital and his injuries are critical and life-threatening.

Six other people went to hospitals around the area, by private means, with non-life threatening injuries, Ellis said.

The shooting is currently under investigation by Louisville Metro Police and the Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control.
