‘Code Red’: Animal shelter says it’s out of space, options

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Animal Services said Friday it is over capacity, doesn’t have a single dog kennel open, and needs help.

“We are over capacity and have exhusted all options,” MAS said on its Facebook page. “We do not want to humanely euthanize adoptable dogs for space, and we know you don’t want us to, either.”

MAS asked for anyone who could adopt or foster an animal to open their home, even if just for a few weeks to give the shelter some space.

Adoption fees for urgent dogs will be waived Friday and Saturday.

The shelter at 2350 Appling City Cove is open until 6 p.m. Friday and noon to 4 Saturday and Sunday. The phone number is 901-636-1416.
