College corner: Locals earn academic distinctions

Jun. 3—Colleges and universities have announced those who have graduated or been named to their respective academic lists. Below is a list of recently submitted notifications regarding students from Jacksonville and the surrounding area.

Sam Houston State University

Sam Houston State University announced the names of their spring 2024 graduates.

Two students from Rusk were among those receiving degrees.

Tyler Junior College

Tyler Junior College has recognized 1,487 students named to the president's and dean's lists for their academic excellence during the spring 2024 semester.

The president's list consists of 553 students who completed a minimum of 12 hours of college-level courses with a 4.0 grade-point average.
