Columbus woman arrested on child cruelty charge following toddler’s brain bleeds

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A Columbus woman was taken into custody and charged with cruelty to children, according to the Columbus Police Department.

Police say Emily Henry was arrested and taken to Muscogee County Jail on Friday, May 31.

The arrest stems back to May 3 when officers responded to suspected child abuse at 17 Creek Way.

Police say a 1-year-old boy was diagnosed with two brain bleeds at the Children’s Hospital of Atlanta. According to the investigation, Henry was aware of the child’s vomiting, lethargy and seizures leading up to his hospital admission.

Police deemed the delay in seeking medical attention neglectful. When the medical attention was sought, police say it was not by Henry, but by third parties.

Henry is set to appear in Recorder’s Court on Monday, June 3 at 9 a.m.
