Construction check-in: How’s Urbana’s new Meadowbrook Park playground coming along?

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The space where a tall, wooden playground once stood off of Windsor Road looks much different now than a few months ago.

Crews putting in a new playground at Meadowbrook Park are making steady progress and staying on schedule.

The new playspace will be more accessible than the structure before. There will be more ramps and a better surface in place so it’s easier for people with limited mobility to get around.

“It’s very important for us to keep a playground up to date here,” Mark Schultz, the Park District spokesperson, said. “We need to build a new playground to keep this area as a good, regional place for people to come and play.”

Work started in the spring, and the Park District expects it to be done early this fall.
