Construction of new Oshkosh hospital utilizing new structural elements

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – Three months after breaking ground, the construction at Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Inc.’s Oshkosh health campus has utilized a variety of structural elements en route to being a premier care facility in northeast Wisconsin.

According to a release, the site was vacant for decades because of the soil conditions. But, teams worked with the Department of Natural Resources to learn about the site.

Jennifer Nikolai, the vice president of new Community Hospitals in Fond du Lac and Oshkosh said, “Despite some of the challenges the area presented, Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Inc. is committed to creating convenient access to care.”

Before the construction started, partners worked with a geotechnical engineer to determine the best foundational system.

The foundation included nearly 900 steel pipes that were filled with concrete after being driven into the soil. This process spanned about two months, according to the release.

Expected to be complete in 2025, the approximately 85,000 square-foot campus is estimated to have an $84 million investment with emergency care, inpatient beds and 24/7 coverage, and could create approximately 60 new jobs.

The hospital will also be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
