Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Abi Webster will decide to take a break from the cobbles next week, after receiving more bad news about the deepfake videos made of her.

Abi was recently horrified to discover that she appeared to be the subject of a series of porn videos that were circulated online. She later realised that the explicit clips were actually fake, with her head having been superimposed onto someone else's body.

This week, Abi decides that Stefan Brent – the scheming father of killer teenager Corey, who murdered Abi's son Seb in 2021 – is likely to be behind the videos.

Abi recently spoke out against a documentary that painted Corey in a positive light.

After Abi's husband Kevin gets involved and is caught on camera breaking into Stefan's office, he comes to an agreement with the villain.

In scenes that will air on Monday, June 24 and Friday, June 28, the situation appears to be under control at last when Kevin tells Tyrone Dobbs that Stefan has agreed to pay to take down the videos.

But Kevin is later dealt another blow when Stefan informs him that their arrangement is off, because he's not willing to pay the £60,000 per year that it will cost to keep the videos off the internet.

How will upset Kevin react to Stefan's bad news?

Later in the week, Abi breaks the news to Kevin that she needs to get away from Weatherfield for a few days after everything that's happened.

She reveals that she's going to stay with her twins, Charlie and Lexi, and their adoptive mum Lynsey for a while.

As Abi leaves, Kevin tries to remain positive. But will the couple be able to handle the increasing pressure they're facing over the deepfakes?

Sally Carman, who plays Abi, recently explained her character's reaction to discovering that the videos are fake. She revealed that Abi's "sense of relief" that the clips aren't real gives way to anxiety about who could have made them.

"She's confused and reeling, thinking who could be doing this and why are they doing this," she said.

"These aren't just things you can do in 10 minutes, it takes time and money to do such a detailed convincing deepfake."

She added: "She's really confused and frustrated and scared."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
