COVID-19 case count declining in Wisconsin, but hospitalizations remain above 500
The seven-day average of daily COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin is down more than 150 cases from last month. However, hospitalizations in the state continue to reach new highs for this summer.
The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported 522 COVID patients in Wisconsin hospitals on Friday — that number reached as high as 540 patients on Thursday.
For context, the state reported 424 patients on July 12, and as low as 136 patients in April. The high mark for hospitalizations was 2,278 patients in January, during the omicron surge.
