Crowds fill Forest Park, zoo, and more despite the heat

ST. LOUIS – Forest Park was crowded with visitors Friday afternoon, despite the heat.

The Saint Louis Zoo is holding their annual Zoofari fundraiser Friday evening that runs until 11p.m., as well as Les Misérables playing at the Muny, beginning at 8:15 p.m.

All afternoon, there were plenty out and about, from people walking and biking to playing a round of golf.

The fountain near the World’s Fair Pavilion and Government Hill was a particularly popular spot where kids and adults alike were in the water, staying cool.

Those visiting the Boathouse said the patio was crowded, but thankfully there’s lots of shade, which has made the day slightly less uncomfortable.

“It’s pretty hot out and we came and went to the art museum for the day—family time. We came and had lunch at the boathouse, just getting out but trying to stay out of the sun as much as we can,” Alex Newton from Gillespie, Ill., said.

“It’s extremely hot but we’re out here in the shade enjoying the weather,” Alexis Dominguez, of St. Louis, said.

“Me and my girl came out and enjoyed the water on the paddleboats and after that, sat at the bar, had a good time,” Devin Smith of St. Louis said.

Unfortunately, the heat will continue into the next week.
