Davenport Speedway will sizzle with action

The 2024 racing season at Davenport Speedway will be a busy one for SR Promotions, with 22 nights of stock car racing action planned for the quarter-mile dirt oval located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport, a news release says.

The 2024 schedule puts an emphasis on weekly racers and their fans. Every race night features some type of special promotion or concession deals, the release says.

The Malvern Bank Super Late Model Racing Series returns to Davenport on Memorial Day weekend beginning Friday, May 24. The Lucas Oil MLRA series will bring the first ever “Corn State Nationals” to town. The two-day show will be Sept. 13-14.

The Koehler Electric Season Opener is slated for Friday, April 12. Weekly classes will include IMCA sanctioned Late Models, Modifieds, SportMods, and Hobby Stocks. Also racing will be Outlaw Street Stocks and 4-Cylinders.

Open practice sessions are tentatively set for Saturday, March 23 and April 5. On Saturday, March 23, the pit gate will open at 2 p.m., with practice running from 3-9 p.m. Pit passes for practice will be $30. The grandstand will be open for spectators. Details on the April 5 practice will be released later.

In addition to the SR Promotions schedule, outside promoters have booked races at the Davenport track. The High Limit Racing sprint car series will appear on Tuesday, June 4. On Tuesday, June 18, the DIRTcar Summer National late models will race at Davenport. The XR Super Series is scheduled for July 22 and July 23.
