Decatur police investigate separate weekend shootings

Jun. 17—Decatur police are investigating two apparently unrelated shootings that occurred this past weekend.

In the first, a person was brought to Decatur General Hospital Parkway Campus with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound Saturday, police said Monday night.

According to police, at about 2:50 p.m. Saturday, Morgan County Central Dispatch received a call from Parkway after a male was brought in with a gunshot wound.

Officers met with the victim, who said the shooting occurred at a property in the 1000 block of Hoover Avenue Southwest.

At about 7:05 p.m. Saturday, dispatch received a call from Decatur Morgan Hospital after a 17-year-old male was brought in with gunshot wounds, police said. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Officers met with the victim, who said the shooting occurred during a robbery in the alley in the 1200 block of Sixth Avenue Southeast, police said.

Both investigations are ongoing and the incidents are believed to be isolated, police said.
