‘Delays expected’: Construction begins on I-5 south, here’s what to know about detours

(FOX40.COM) — Caltrans is alerting drivers in Northern California about traffic-interfering construction that is expected to affect commuters heading into Sacramento over the next nine days.

The road work is scheduled to close the westbound Arena Boulevard on-ramp to southbound (Los Angeles) Interstate 5 in North Natomas. It began at 9 p.m. Thursday and will end at 9 p.m. on June 29, according to Caltrans. Motorists should expect delays and plan for additional travel time for their commute.

Detours

• Continue westbound to Duckhorn Drive and make a U-turn to use the eastbound Arena Boulevard slip on-ramp to southbound I-5 (Los Angeles).

• Use the Del Paso Road on-ramps as an alternate route for southbound I-5.

Caltrans warned nearby residents of loud, intermittent noises from heavy construction equipment, including vehicle back-up warning alarms. Real-time traffic updates can be found at dot.ca.gov.
