Delta Police files charges in connection to the shooting of a 15-year-old

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Kasen Spencer, a 15-year-old student at Cedaredge High School, had dreams of using his passion for mixed martial arts to train for the Marines, following in his father’s footsteps.

Unfortunately, on May 3rd, Kasen asked to attend a Delta Cinco de Mayo celebration with a close family friend and others. Prior to the celebration, the group stopped at a friend’s house, where Kasen was shot in the back of the head. Shockingly, he survived.

One juvenile has been charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and false reporting, while others have been charged with the misdemeanor of false reporting. However, his parents fear that the charges filed in their son’s case may not be severe enough to serve justice.
