Denver weather: Hot and dry weekend with isolated mountain storms

DENVER (KDVR) — Hotter and drier conditions move into Denver weather this weekend.

There is an air quality alert in effect for the northern front range and foothills until 4 p.m. Saturday, sensitive groups should remain indoors.

Weather today: Sunny and hot

Mostly sunny skies dominate the area through Saturday as highs will top out in the upper 80s and lower 90s. This is around 5 degrees above average for this time of the year.

There is a chance for isolated thunderstorms in the high country, although most areas will remain dry.

Weather tonight: Some clouds, mild

Partly cloudy skies move into the picture overnight before clearing out as lows sink down into the upper 50s and lower 60s. Winds will be out of the south between 5-10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph possible.

Looking ahead: More hot temperatures

Sunday will be sunny and warmer. High temperatures will be about 10 degrees above average, reaching the mid-90s.

Temperatures in the mid-90s and sunshine dominate the forecast into the start of the workweek.

The next chance for thunderstorms moves in for the second half of the week, and will help to lower high temperatures slightly into the lower 90s.
