Suspect sought after 3 injured in stabbing near Dowagiac

SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say deputies are searching for a Dowagiac-area man who allegedly stabbed three people near Dowagiac Thursday night.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said around 10:40 p.m. Thursday it was called for a report of a stabbing at a house on School Street near the intersection of Garrett Road in Silver Creek Township, west of Dowagiac.

When deputies arrived, the sheriff’s office said it found three people with multiple stab wounds. The victims were a 73-year-old man, a 75-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man.

The two older victims were taken to the hospital, while the 31-year-old victim did not seek medical treatment, according to the sheriff’s office. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

Authorities are searching for the suspect, who left the scene before deputies arrived on the scene. The sheriff’s office identified him as 28-year-old John Henry Coons of Dowagiac. He is wanted on three counts of intent to murder and is considered armed and dangerous.
