UPDATE: I-57 lane cleared after rollover: State Police

Update at 7:40 p.m.

COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois State Police say the vehicle partially blocking the lane has been moved.

Around 7:40 p.m., police said Tuscola Pro Towing moved the vehicle right side up and out of the way to the medium. At this time cleanup and recovery are still ongoing while the right lane has reopened.

IDOT officials are on the scene directing traffic and drives are still encouraged to be extra cautious when traveling through the area.


COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois State Police are responding to a commercial vehicle rollover accident on I-57 northbound with a partial lane blockage.

Police say the accident, which happened in Coles County near milepost 198, was a single-vehicle crash that resulted in property damage. The passing lane is currently partially blocked, resulting in a detour directed to exit 192 to County Road 1000N to IL-130.

The Coles County Sheriff’s Office says traffic is backed up to mile marker 196. Officials urge drivers to avoid the area or to be extra cautious when traveling through.
