Dixie man charged in Brooks woman's death

DIXIE — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation charged a Dixie man with the death of a woman.

Nathaniel Brinson, 65, was charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, a GBI statement said Monday.

Around 10:50 p.m. Saturday, the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office requested GBI help with a probe into the death of Linda Cross, 60, of Dixie.

Deputies had responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of Prince Road in Dixie; Cross was found at the scene with apparent gunshot wounds and was dead, the GBI said.

Brinson was arrested and booked into the Brooks County Jail. An autopsy will be performed on Cross by the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office, according to the statement.
