Dothan mom charged in toddler’s death after crash

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) – A Dothan woman is facing charges after a Houston County grand jury indictment claims she did not put her toddler in a seatbelt before a semi-truck crashed into her vehicle, causing his death.

Daeisha McGowan was indicted on one count of criminally negligent homicide on Thursday, June 13.

The indictment claims 31-year-old McGowan did not put her three-year-old son, Tristan McGowan, in a seatbelt or restraint, causing him to be ejected from their pickup during a crash on November 29, 2023.

McGowan’s Dodge pickup was hit by a 2007 Freightliner while exiting the parking lot in the 2300 block of Ross Clark Circle.
