Dougherty County EMS donates equipment to Albany Tech program

ALBANY – Dougherty County Emergency Medical Services has demonstrated its commitment to local emergency medical services education by donating two Stryker MX Pro Power Lift stretchers to the EMS Program at Albany Technical College.

"Dougherty County is pleased to support the EMS program at Albany Technical College," Sam Allen, the director of Dougherty County EMS, said in a news release. "These stretchers will help train future EMTs and paramedics. Using the latest equipment allows the students to practice and improve their ability to take care of the citizens of Dougherty County and others in southwest Georgia. Supporting this educational endeavor benefits all of us."

Although the donated stretchers have been retired from frontline service, they hold significant value in an educational setting. By integrating these stretchers into training simulations, ATC's EMS program facilitates a more immersive learning experience, fostering the development of essential life-saving techniques.

"We appreciate Dougherty County EMS's continued support for our students and our program," ATC Program Chair Tracie Naylor-Griffin said. "We will use these stretchers in our simulation lab when we create scenarios for our students to manage and apply their newly learned life-saving skills.

"Perfecting these lifesaving skills will benefit the citizens of Albany/Dougherty County and southwest Georgia. We have tremendous support from Dougherty County EMS and many of the area's EMS departments. These partnerships are a big part of our success."

The ATC EMS program is recognized as a "high performer" by the Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma, a testament to its superior national certifying exam pass rates, low attrition, and successful job placement. ATC prides itself on its EMT, AEMT, and paramedic programs' exceptional standards, which are ranked in the top 15% in the state.
