Driver faces homicide charge for Marinette County crash that killed 8-month-old
GROVER, Wis. (WFRV) – A Marinette County man has been charged with Homicide by Intoxicated Use of Vehicle after his alleged involvement in an October 2023 crash that killed an 8-month-old.
A Facebook post from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office states that charges have been filed through the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office against 46-year-old Michael Galbraith.

The incident happened around 4:40 p.m. on October 6, 2023. Authorities say Galbraith, a Village of Coleman resident, stopped for a stop sign at US Highway 41 and Kamm Road before entering the intersection and colliding with a vehicle traveling south on US Highway 41.
An 8-month-old, who was restrained in a child’s safety seat, was flown from the scene for medical treatment before passing away on October 10, 2023.
Court records show that Galbraith has been charged with:
One count of Homicide by Vehicle Use – Controlled Substance
Felony D
Up to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000
Two counts of Operate with Restricted Controlled Substance (1st with minor passenger <16yrs)
Misdemeanor U
Up to 6 months in jail and/or up to a $1,000 fine

On May 20, Galbraith made his initial court appearance and had a signature bond set at $1,000. Galbraith is scheduled for a preliminary hearing and arraignment on June 26.
