What are early voting numbers so far for the Republican Primaries in the tri-city area?

The early voting numbers are in for the Republican primary in the tri-city area.

In Petersburg, which is a predominantly Democratic voting area, 37 people have voted in-person so far. Meanwhile, 114 absentee ballots were mailed out. 42 have been returned so far. According to the Petersburg Registrar's Office, these numbers are consistent with prior Republican primaries for similar office.

Polls will open at 6 a.m. in Petersburg on June 18 and will stay open until 7 p.m. An ID is required to vote. Learn more here.

Hopewell, which also leans blue — although not as much as Petersburg — saw slightly higher turnout numbers. Approximately 77 Hopewell residents have voted in-person so far, according to the city's Registrar's Office. 123 ballots were mailed out, and 57 have been returned so far, although some have yet to be counted and this number is likely to rise in the coming days.

Colonial Heights—which is a predominantly Republican voting area— saw definitively higher turnout numbers but is still experiencing a relatively slow early voting period according to the city's Registrar's Office. So far, 246 Colonial Heights residents have voted early. Meanwhile, the Registrar's Office has mailed out approximately 185 ballots, they said. Around 120 have been returned so far, they added.
