East TN robbery suspects escape to Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities are searching for robbery suspects out of East Tennessee who drove more than 100 miles before disappearing in Putnam County.

The robbery happened on Sunday night at a hotel in Sevierville where three suspects carjacked a group of people at gunpoint.

The suspects then fled in the stolen 2024 Lincoln Aviator. The Tennessee Highway Patrol tracked the SUV until Crossville, which is about 100 miles away.

A pursuit then stretched into Putnam County and past Cookeville, where the Aviator was eventually stopped with spike strips.

The stolen vehicle kept going for another eight miles and before it crashed near Buffalo Valley. The suspects hopped out, ran away and disappeared.

Authorities are still searching for those suspects. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call SPD Detective Krista Weaver at 865-453-1751.
