Indictment issued in Wilson County shooting death of Green Hill High graduate

A 20-year-old faces charges in an eight-count indictment after the September shooting death in Wilson County of a 2022 Green Hill High graduate.

Austin Scott-Lee Gordon, 19, was found dead with a gunshot woundearly Sept. 10 on Glen Oaks Drive, according to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.

Caleb Mershon, 20, is charged with reckless homicide; aggravated assault resulting in death; three counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon; underage consumption of alcohol; and possession of a weapon while intoxicated, according to District Attorney General Jason Lawson's Office.

There were other non-residents at the scene who conducted CPR on Gordon, based on the initial report, Wilson County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Scott Moore said.

The suspect has Mershon posted a $75,000 bond, according to the DA. A court date is scheduled for Dec. 2.
