Elementary school teacher assaults 3 kids in Virginia: police

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - A Fairfax County Public Schools special education teacher has been charged with seven misdemeanors for allegedly abusing multiple students.

Court documents identify the teacher as Elizabeth Nagagata.

The incidents reportedly occurred between September 2023 and April 2024.

Nagagata, 62, is a special education teacher at White Oaks Elementary School in Burke, Virginia.

Fairfax County Police say Nagagata assaulted at least three students.

She was arrested and charged on Friday following an investigation that began after Child Protective Services received a tip alleging that Nagagata was seen assaulting a student at White Oaks Elementary.

FOX 5 reached out to Fairfax County Public Schools about the matter, but the district referred inquiries to Fairfax County Police, who declined to comment on the case.

The Fairfax County Special Education Parent Teacher Association also declined to comment, stating in an email, "We have no comment on this situation at this time."

The arrest comes shortly after Fairfax County Public Schools announced the hiring of a new assistant superintendent for the Department of Special Services, Dr. Terri Edmunds-Heard.

This marks the district’s second appointment to the position since 2019. The previous appointment was Dr. Michelle Boyd.

Nagagata is being held without bond.
