Enterprise Fire Chief warns against citizen fireworks ahead of July 4th

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — Enterprise citizens are cautioned by the Enterprise Fire Department not only on citizen-shot firework dangers, but also that they are not permitted within city limits.

“Most injuries come from firecrackers and sparklers, and children between the ages of 10 and 14 have the highest rate of injury,” Fire Chief Christopher Davis said, “Water boils at 212 degrees… Sparklers burn at 1200 degrees.”

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s annual report, more than 10,000 people were treated for fireworks injuries in 2022.

“Really, the only way to stay safe is to leave the fireworks shows to the professionals.”

The City of Enterprise’s ordinance prohibiting fireworks in the city limits has been in effect since 1999, and includes, “discharge, firing or use of firecrackers, rockets, torpedoes, roman candles or other fireworks… prohibited within the city limits of Enterprise, Alabama.”

It is also illegal to sell fireworks in Enterprise.
