ERA NOW will host Women Strike Back Rally on anniversary of Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade

Jun. 22—GRAND FORKS — The Equal Rights Association (ERA NOW) will host a Women Strike Back rally on Monday, June 24 — the second anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade — in conjunction with the National Women's Strike.

The national event encourages women to strike from their daily duties, such as work, housework and spending money, according to an ERA NOW press release issued June 17.

These acts are meant to highlight the impact women have on the economy, their households and society as a whole, as well as bringing attention to the inequalities they face every day, the release said.

ERA NOW was founded following the 2016 election. In 2019, it was officially established as a nonprofit. The mission of the organization is to show up, stand up and speak up for equal rights for all, the release said.

The nonprofit's event, which will be a "joyful, female-focused rally" is free, open to all, and will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. in Independence Park. There will be speakers, merchandise, conversation and a call to action.

Attendees are encouraged to wear red in solidarity to the National Women's Strike, and bring related signs, the release said.
