Fetterman, wife Gisele ‘doing well’ after Maryland car crash

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) and his wife are “doing well” after they were involved in a car crash in Maryland over the weekend, according to his office.

A spokesperson for Fetterman’s office said Fetterman and his wife, Giselle, were evaluated at a local hospital following a car crash with another driver on Sunday morning. Fetterman was treated for a bruised shoulder, and the two of them were discharged that afternoon, his office said.

“They are doing well and happy to be back in Braddock,” the spokesperson said, referring to the senator’s hometown in Pennsylvania.

Maryland State Police said its officers responded to the area of westbound Interstate 70 at Interstate 68 shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday for a two-vehicle crash. Police said Fetterman was the driver of the Chevrolet Traverse that struck the rear of a Chevrolet Impala for an “unknown” reason while traveling west on I-70, according to their initial investigation.

Police said that the operator of the Impala and a passenger of the Traverse were transported by an ambulance to War Memorial Hospital in West Virginia for injuries.

“The crash investigation remains active and ongoing,” police said in a statement, noting no citations were issued.
