Fire engulfs former antique store in downtown Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A former antique store in downtown Bakersfield went up in flames Monday night.

Video from the scene shows a raging inferno inside the former Great American Antiques store on 19th Street, which closed in November. The store is located right across the street from the Bakersfield Museum of Art.

A sign on the building said the building was for sale. The three-alarm fire broke out around 11:30 Monday night and abruptly consumed the 37,000 square foot building.

Fire crews have remained on scene throughout the night cleaning up the aftermath.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known or if there were any injuries.
