The first autopsy results in the Dau Mabil case have been released by the family of Karissa Bowley, Mabil's wife, to the Clarion Ledger.

According to the provided report, the Mississippi State Medical Examiner's Office ruled drowning as Mabil's cause of death, while "the manner is undetermined."

The report also stated no external signs of trauma or injury were found that could account for Mabil's death. A postmortem toxicological analysis of his liver tissue and decomposition fluid detected the presence of ethanol.

In April, Lawrence County Sheriff Ryan Everett confirmed the body of Dau Mabil was found in the Pearl River in Lawrence County — nearly three weeks after and 60-miles away from where Mabil was reported missing in late March.
