Fishing Expo coming to Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A fishing show is in the works for Roanoke next winter. Jason Lane, who operates Savvy Events, says he is organizing the Star City Fishing Expo to be held at the Berglund Center February 7-9 of 2025.

The show will feature fishing tackle and gear makers and dealers, outfitters, guides, and resorts. There will also be exhibitions by fishing pros, as well as a trout pond where attendees can catch fish.

“I’m not an amateur at doing these types of shows; I do a craft and vendor show two times a year here at the Berglund Center,” said Lane. “We’re going to do a fishing expo here in the Roanoke Valley. I’m very excited because I believe we have the potential to have a huge show here.”

Currently, the closest major fishing shows to the Roanoke region are in Richmond and Greensboro. Lane expects roughly 150 exhibitors at the Star City Fishing Expo.

“We’re going to have a variety of vendors here with fishing rods, lures, you name it, they’ll be here; anything to do with fishing,” said Lane.

In addition to cutting travel time, the dollars generated by the show will stay local. Other shows generally draw big crowds, tens of thousands of people, and drive revenue at hotels and restaurants.
