NWS: Flood risk sticks around in New Mexico

RUIDOSO DOWNS, N.M. (KRQE) – The Ruidoso area is under a Flash Flood Watch on Sunday. The National Weather Service (NWS) released a “special weather briefing” to warn about possible flooding.

NWS said the burn scar from the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon fire is under the watch. However, other areas might be impacted, like the South Fork Fire‘s scar.

Startups scramble to assess fallout from Evolve Bank data breach
On Wednesday, Evolve Bank and Trust, a financial institution that’s popular with fintech startups, announced that it had been victim of a cyberattack and data breach that could have affected its partner companies as well. The incident, according to the company's statement, involved “the data and personal information of some Evolve retail bank customers and financial technology partners’ customers.” When reached by TechCrunch, Evolve's communications chief Thomas Holmes said that the incident involves “a known cybercriminal organization.”

Meta starts testing user-created AI chatbots on Instagram
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Thursday that the company will begin to surface AI characters made by creators through Meta AI studio on Instagram. The social media company's announcement comes on the same day as a16z-backed chatbot company Character.ai is rolling out the ability for users to talk with AI avatars over a call. In a post on his broadcast channel, Zuckerberg noted that these chatbots will be clearly marked as AI to inform users.
