Fond du Lac teenagers lead county deputy on high-speed pursuit; passenger cited for underage drinking

FOND DU LAC COUNTY – An 18-year-old Fond du Lac man was taken into custody June 21 after leading local law enforcement on a pursuit reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, a deputy tried a traffic stop for a speed violation around 1:50 a.m. on State 23 near County Highway W in the town of Forest, but the vehicle increased its speed despite the deputy's lights and sirens.

The driver exited the highway and reentered, and the Fond du Lac Police Department assisted as the pursuit entered the city of Fond du Lac. The driver then stopped near U.S. 151, and after a high-risk traffic stop, he was taken into custody on charges of knowingly feeling/eluding an officer.

The suspect was not under the influence, but his passenger, also 18, was cited for underage drinking, third offense, and minor transporting intoxicants in vehicle.

No one was injured as a result of the pursuit, which lasted just more than 7-1/2 miles. The names of the suspects were not released.
