Food contamination lawsuit filed following birthday celebration at Hereford House

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A birthday celebration ends in a food contamination lawsuit.

One family had decided to celebrate a man’s 80th birthday at the Hereford House in Leawood.

This marks the ninth lawsuit filed against the restaurant, accusing it of negligence because a former kitchen worker contaminated the food.

Twelve people were were at the part on April 20 claim they experienced food poisoning symptoms, including diarrhea, vomiting, indigestions, fatigue, weakness, nausea, stomach cramps and body aches.

Jace Hanson worked at the restaurant during that time. He’s facing criminal charges, accused of adding bodily fluids to foods.

The lawsuit states that since becoming aware of the contamination at the restaurant, the victims have suffered additional emotional distress.

Hanson is also charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

Hanson is being held in the Johnson County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
